Claudeforce Puts Claude Inside Salesforce and Slack, and CRM Inside Claude
Salesforce and Anthropic unveiled Claudeforce, a two-way integration that brings 37 sales skills into Claude and makes Claude a default model across Slack and Agentforce. Enterprises gain governed access but face open questions on pricing and lock-in.

Key takeaways
- Two-way integration. A plugin brings 37 Salesforce sales skills into Claude, while Claude becomes a default model in Slack and several Agentforce tools.
- Governance is the pitch. Actions route through Salesforce business rules, admins connect once, and Claude runs via Amazon Bedrock inside the Salesforce Trust Boundary.
- Close financial ties. Salesforce holds an equity stake in Anthropic and expects to spend about $300 million on Anthropic tokens in 2026.
- Key details are missing. No pricing was disclosed, and buyers should check how easily model defaults can be changed.
Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce on August 26, a partnership that puts Claude inside Salesforce, Slack and Agentforce and, in the other direction, puts Salesforce data and workflows inside Claude. For enterprises that run their customer operations on Salesforce, it changes two things at once: which model sits behind many Salesforce AI features by default, and where sellers may do their CRM work.
What is Claudeforce?
According to Salesforce's announcement, the package has four parts:
- Salesforce in Claude. A plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills, such as meeting preparation, deal health review and pipeline review. An onboarding step reads a seller's connected context and builds a dashboard of accounts and pipeline.
- AIforce. Salesforce's integration layer, which exposes business data and workflows to agents through MCP servers, APIs and command-line tools.
- Claude inside Salesforce. Claude serves as a reasoning model for Agentforce's Atlas Reasoning Engine, is the default model for Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker, and is available in Agent Builder.
- Claude inside Slack. Claude becomes Slack's default model, powering Slackbot and new features such as Claude Tag.
Salesforce in Claude is available to select pilot customers now, with an open beta expected in September, the company said. On the earnings call the same day, President and COO Miguel Milano described general availability in September and said customers would need premium editions, according to a MarketBeat summary on Nasdaq. Buyers should confirm which release stage and edition apply to them.
How does Claudeforce handle governance and security?
This is where Salesforce is making its main pitch to regulated industries. Actions taken from Claude are routed back through Salesforce so business rules still apply, and an administrator connects the plugin once, with authentication and permissions managed centrally rather than per user, the announcement says. Claude is also reachable through Amazon Bedrock inside the Salesforce Trust Boundary, which Salesforce called a first for an outside model provider.
Central administration cuts setup work, but it also concentrates risk in one connection. Jack Smith, Principal Solutions Engineer at Syncari, warned at COLLIDE 2025 that AI tools connecting to systems one by one often lack central control. "You'll have the same authentication for a CIO as you would a data steward," he said in a talk on why bad data blocks AI at scale. Security teams will want to test how Claudeforce maps Salesforce permissions to what Claude can see and do before the beta widens.
Why are Salesforce and Anthropic doing this now?
The deal lands as Salesforce pushes back on investor fears that frontier models will replace business applications. Speaking to CNBC, Chair and CEO Marc Benioff said "Frontier models depend on CRM. They don't replace it," TechRadar reported. He said nine of the 10 leading AI companies use Salesforce and Slack, and that their spending on those platforms rose 435% from a year earlier.
The two companies are already tied together. Salesforce holds an equity stake in Anthropic and expects to spend about $300 million on Anthropic tokens in 2026, mostly for software development, Techstrong.ai reported. Anthropic uses Salesforce as its CRM and Slack internally. The Deep View called that reciprocal customer story "partly marketing rhetoric," while still seeing real value in the integration.
What questions should enterprise buyers ask?
Several details remain open:
- Pricing. Salesforce did not disclose pricing for any part of the deal, Reworked noted, and Benioff has acknowledged that pricing confusion slowed Agentforce adoption. The announcement says packaging may change and varies by region.
- Model choice. Claude becomes the default in several products. Companies that have standardized on another model, or that want to switch later, should ask how easily defaults can be changed and whether skills behave the same on other models.
- Data exposure. Pointing Claude at decades of CRM records raises the stakes of data quality and access rules. Errors and over-broad permissions that went unnoticed in dashboards can surface quickly in an assistant that acts on them.
The AIforce layer also deserves attention. Exposing Salesforce through MCP servers fits a broader shift AI Connect speakers have described. At COLLIDE 2025, Dylan Vetter, Senior Solutions Engineer at SnapLogic, explained how teams can build custom MCP servers on governed integration platforms instead of waiting for each vendor. "Now you don't have to wait for Salesforce to come out with their MCP server," he said. Salesforce is now offering its own, which gives buyers a choice between vendor-run and self-governed access paths.
What does Claudeforce mean for enterprise AI strategy?
For Salesforce customers, the immediate decision is whether to join the pilot or beta and with which teams. The broader lesson is about dependency. A tighter pairing of one CRM and one model provider can speed up deployment, but it also links contract terms, pricing and reliability across two vendors at once. A AI Connect webinar panel on avoiding vendor lock-in recommended open interfaces and testing several vendors in proofs of concept for exactly this reason.
The next signals to watch are the September beta, the first published pricing, and whether early customers report that governed actions from Claude hold up against real sales data.
